As the president of Laura Brown Consulting, I have been working with creators to shape the content of educational media properties for over twenty years.
My goal is to find the best way to engage your child audience, from a developmental, entertainment and educational perspective. I firmly believe that media can open new worlds for children, support development, and inspire learning. I help clients better understand and engage their audience and find an educational direction that works seamlessly with the creative.
My company creates curricula, designs and leads formative research and provides consultation from the earliest stages of development through all stages of production. Some of our clients include Nick Jr., Dreamworks Animation Television, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Sprout, DHX Media, Disney Junior, PBS Kids, Silvergate Media, Brown Bag Films and Discovery Kids.
A graduate of Teachers College, Columbia University and the University of Pennsylvania, I hold a doctorate in Applied Educational and School Psychology. As a licensed psychologist, I worked with children and families in schools and private practice before my full time involvement in children’s media. The years I spent with real kids and families gives me a deep understanding of the audience. That’s knowledge I harness to support your project.
